Some of you may have read Bill Simmons before, some not. His columns are always very good, they are also usually pretty long. This one is about Houston and the All Star game this weekend. FYI... his description of a Snoop Dogg encounter is right on. The picture that I have posted from the Super Bowl is as close as I was getting. Fortunately I didn't feel my life was in danger during that encounter. I didn't relize until I read his column how lucky I am to be alive. Too bad for that Clemens Kid. Also, for soem reason the World Series didn't make his list of big events in Houston in the last 2 years. Maybe he just didn't have a term meaning four like "Superfecta" or "Quadrafecta" in his vernacular (he referred to the Super Bowl, NBA, and MLB All Star games as the sports"Trifecta")

I realize that.  It's still one of the biggest sporting events and it was in Houston.  Just because it wasn't a conscious decision for it to be there doesn't mean it didn't count.  He later referred to the WS if it were to be held in Houston.

Oh, I didn't realize that you wanted to enter a semantic argument.  I thought it was a legitimate question.

Bill Simmons is awesome.  His insight into the death of Pat Morita really helped me cope as I went through a difficult time in my life.  Losing Mr. Miagi was like losing a child.  He taught me that when things get really bad, all you have to do is some meaningless hand motions that will teach you how to cope with bad situations.  The alternate ending to the Karate Kid was especially meaningful.  I can't access the past article, but it was something like, Johnny came out at the end and roundhouse kicked Daniel-san in the face to death, everyone stood over him and laughed as Daniel-san lay dead.  So insightful and meaningful.  Rest in Peace Mr. Miagi.
